Raphy Pina was born Rafael Antonio Pina Nieves in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on July 4, 1978. Rafael Pina, his father, was also a music producer. His father managed several well-known musicians in the late 1990s, including Juan Luis Guerra and Jose Alberto El Canario. Mia Pina is his mother’s name. He had a brother named Victor Pina with whom he grew up.


Raphy founded his own recording label, Pina Records Label, in 1996. He opened his own workshop the next year. He worked on his first job, making singer Don Chezina’s debut album Bien Guillao de Gangster, after a year in 1997.
